Rounding Numbers

Rounding replaces a number with the nearest multiple of 10, 100, or another named place. For positive whole numbers, a value exactly halfway is usually rounded to the greater multiple.

Your goals

Words to know

round:: Replace a number with a nearby value that is easier to use.
nearest:: The value with the smallest distance from the original number.

Examples

137 lies between 30 and 40 and is closer to 40, so 37 rounds to 40.
282 lies between 80 and 90 and is closer to 80, so 82 rounds to 80.
