Number Lines

A number line is a straight line with numbers placed at equal distances. It helps you see how big numbers are and how far apart they are.

Your goals

Words to know

interval:
The equal space between neighbouring marks on a number line.
distance:
How far apart two numbers are.

Examples

  • 1... 3 โ€” 4 โ€” 5 โ€” 6 โ€” 7 ...
  • 2To add 3 + 2, start at 3 and jump 2 spaces forward to land on 5.
