Length

Length tells us how long something is. We measure it in millimetres (mm), centimetres (cm), metres (m), and kilometres (km).

Your goals

Words to know

length:
The distance from one end of an object to the other.
unit:
An agreed amount used for measuring.

Examples

  • 1A pencil is about 15 cm long.
  • 21 m = 100 cm. The classroom might be 8 m long.

Check these

  • • Do not choose a unit that is much too large or too small.
  • • Keep every number, symbol, label, and unit in its correct place.
  • • Show enough working to check how you reached your answer.
