Logic problems give you clues and ask you to deduce the answer using careful reasoning. You may need to use a table, process of elimination, or step-by-step thinking.

Words to know

deduce:
Reach a conclusion from the information given.
elimination:
Remove choices that cannot be true.

Examples

  • 1"If all cats are animals, and Whiskers is a cat, is Whiskers an animal?" → Yes!
  • 2"Three friends have different favourite colours. Use the clues to match each friend to their colour."

Check these

  • Do not use information that the problem never gives.
  • Keep every number, symbol, label, and unit in its correct place.
  • Show enough working to check how you reached your answer.

Helpful habits

  • Read the whole question before choosing what to do.
  • Show one clear step at a time and check each step.
  • If you are stuck, draw a model, try smaller numbers, or revisit the example.
