A brain teaser tests careful reading and reasoning. Separate what the puzzle states from anything you assumed, then check whether your answer fits every word.

Words to know
- clue:
- Information that helps you solve a puzzle.
- assumption:
- Something accepted without being stated or proved.
Examples
- 1“I have 3 apples. You take 2. How many do you have?” → You have the 2 you took.
- 2“What has hands but cannot clap?” → A clock.
Check these
- • Do not rush past a small but important word.
- • Keep every number, symbol, label, and unit in its correct place.
- • Show enough working to check how you reached your answer.

- • Read the whole question before choosing what to do.
- • Show one clear step at a time and check each step.
- • If you are stuck, draw a model, try smaller numbers, or revisit the example.
