Mixed Operations
Some maths problems use more than one operation. You need to decide which operation to use: add, subtract, multiply, or divide.

Words to know
- operation:
- A mathematical action such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division.
- inverse:
- An operation that undoes another operation.
Examples
- 1"Mum bought 3 packs of 4 eggs and used 5. How many left?" → 3 × 4 = 12, then 12 − 5 = 7.
- 2"A class of 24 is split into 6 groups. How many in each?" → 24 ÷ 6 = 4.

- • Keep every number, symbol, label, and unit in its correct place.
